Amidst the mental incarceration and repetitive role play with unique hooks, emerges the most diabolical and free artist of our time. AIWAL "Country Boy" has rebirthed the ideology of free expression and thought, in a state where individual thinking is frowned upon. Many of our elders defined this as being a Str8Shoota; the most appropriate term one could give to AIWAL.
Not only does AIWAL present issues such as incarceration, addiction, weight pushing, and undesirable deaths of young ones, he offers a unique perspective on the situation, placing the listener in the shoes of the uncommon position.
AIWAL is an acronym meaning "All Is Well And Living". Initially this was a saying he and fellow homies used to greet each other with as a method of easing bitter moments despite any situation. The name also comes from the original term A.W.O.L (Absent With Out Leave). One who goes AWOL frees himself/herself from a certain situation, which clearly describes AIWAL's music and outlook on life.
AIWAL's unique sound, deliverance, and profound writing covers a vast array of genres, but are heavily influenced by the soul of artists like B,B, King, the intimacy of Frankie Beverly and Maze, the bluntness of Ice Cube, the lyricism of 2Pac, the creativity of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the spirit of his Grandfather's gospel hymns(David Hemphill Sr.).
Through his journey AIWAL has ventured from rapping with his cousin in Alabama, to recording with other family and fellow artists in California, to creating wonders with the gifted of the Atlanta music scene.
"I am the Romare Bearden of hip hop" AIWAL exclaims, as he prepares to release the long awaited album entitled "The Way, The Truth, The Light"(Str8trendShootaz Ent.). His objectives are to bring forth honest, sincere, and genuine living; to implement the existence of Black men back onto the main stage; and to provide an outlet for the voice unheard. AIWAL asks all listeners to close their eyes, sit back, and allow him to take them on a journey as he paints a vivid portrait of what life was, is, and solutions for what it should be!
